Track your transfer
Know when your money arrives with your 10-digit tracking number (MTCN). Don’t have your MTCN? We’ve got you covered. Just follow these 3 steps:
1. Go to ‘Track a Transfer’ and select ‘Don’t know the MTCN?’
2. Enter Sender’s phone number or Sender and receivers’ names.
3. Enter the date of money transfer and select ‘Continue.’
Protect yourself from fraud
The easiest way to protect yourself from fraud or a scam is to only help family and friends and to confirm an emergency before any transaction. Once a money transfer is paid out to the receiver, you generally cannot obtain a refund from Western Union, even if the transfer was a result of fraud.
Be aware of the following money transfer scams involving individuals:
● Grandchild, friend, or family member claiming an emergency that you have not personally confirmed ● Lottery or prize winnings
● Helping someone you met online
● An internet purchase
● An employment opportunity
● A rental property
● Credit card or loan fee
